One use of the wet bulb temperature is to determine when does a heatwave become dangerous. If the wet-bulb temperature goes above 22°C then using air conditioning is more comfortable than sitting next to a fan. If it goes above 30°C, then air conditioning is a must for survival. If it goes above 35°C, then you will die within hours, leave the place immediately.

Absolute humidity is a measure of actual the amount of water in the air. The formula for that is accurate between -30°C and 35°C within 0.1%.
